Community Inclusion Services in New Jersey
Everyone deserves more than a seat in the room — they deserve to belong. Community Inclusion Services help adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities build genuine connections, participate in community life, and be recognized as neighbors, members, and friends.
What Community Inclusion Means
Inclusion is not the same as presence. Our Community Inclusion Services intentionally build participation: joining clubs and classes, volunteering, attending events, using community resources, and developing relationships that outlast any staff member’s shift.
Support staff work alongside each individual to try new things, practice social confidence, and gradually take a larger role in the communities they choose — guided by their interests and their person-centered plan.

How It Works With Your NJ DDD Plan
Services are delivered through New Jersey’s Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) programs. Your Support Coordinator adds Community Inclusion Services to the individual’s person-centered plan, and we take it from there — matching staff, building the schedule, and reporting progress against the plan’s goals. If you don’t yet have a Support Coordinator, we can point you in the right direction.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is this different from a day program?
Rather than a facility-based schedule, Community Inclusion happens out in the community, one-on-one or in very small groups, built entirely around the individual’s interests and goals.
Is it covered under NJ DDD?
Yes — community inclusion supports are covered under NJ DDD programs when included in the individual’s service plan. Your Support Coordinator can help add them.
Can it be combined with other services?
Definitely — many individuals pair Community Inclusion with Community Based Supports, transportation, or employment services for a full week of meaningful activity.
